As the current president, I would like to welcome you to the Edinburgh Magic Circle website -our magical portal on the internet. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a little information on the EMC, and a brief description of our aims and activities.
The Edinburgh Magic Circle was founded in 1946 and has been active continuously since then. We have had a number of different homes over that period, but we are now based at The Watsonian Rugby Club Pavilion, 79 Myreside Road Edinburgh. Our meetings are held fortnightly usually on the first and third Monday of each month - members are provided with a syllabus, giving details of meeting dates and activities. Meetings usually start at 19:30 and generally start with a business meeting followed by a discussion or lecture on an aspect of magic.
Our members range from full-time professional magicians right through to keen enthusiast. Their interests range from close-up magic to mentalism - and everything in between. We are a friendly, welcoming group - always happy to share ideas and offer help to those who are keen to learn.
The aims of the EMC are to promote magic in all its forms. To help nurture the talent in all EMC members, and promote learning in relation to the performance of magic - for all members at all levels of ability. To contribute to the development of EMC members and promote new ideas and innovation in all fields of magic.
We also host an open night once a year where we put together an evening of entertainment plus every autumn we host a Kids show with performances from some of the best children’s entertainers in East central Scotland.
